Mutliple Subtools into one normal map (answered)

Is it possible to create a single normal map from multiple subtools?

Essentially, breaking a model up into multiple subtools, doing your sculpting, then baking all of the subtools down into one normal map for the original mesh?

If so, is there someplace i could learn about this process?

If not, how do you deal with large models which require multiple subtools in order to maintain detail?

Thanks!

zbrush can…kinda do it.
xNormal is a free option that can do this well.
Anything else that can bake can do this Max, Maya, Modo, C4D, etc.

You can find tons of tutorials on baking through google.

Use the ‘Merge Maps’ feature in the Multi Map Exporter plugin available from the Download Center. So long as your subtools all occupy the same UV space and don’t overlap they’ll all be combined into one map. (MME will also combine maps by UV space when you have used differenet spaces and map size.)

Thanks guys, I need to upgrade to Z4, then I’ll give it a go. Sounds awesome!

Thanks!
