Multiple textures

I am working on a full body sculpt. i have my head on a separate uv space…can zbrush still only handle one texture at a time…if not…how can i assure my texture will be seamless?

okay, forgetting the problem with uvs outside 0,1 space…i isolated my head which has the uvs in 0,1 space…i keep getting a seam where the uvs are split…i painted over the model in projection master…dropped it…and when i pick it up i have a seam where the uvs are split…

so i use the z app link to fix the seam...but when i pick it up again...boom seam is back in the exact spot...what gives?

i also cannot polypaint once i have applied a texture…
i go to projection master, and use the simple brush to drag on a skin texture that i extracted from a photo…then i get the seam…

i get no seam when i have no texture applied, and i poly paint, or when i have no texture applied and i use projection master…but when i use projection master with no texture… when i pick up it is no where close to what i painted…half of it dissappears.

ok i hit fix seam, under the texture menu. it paused for a second, and i dropped it…and picked it up again. seam still persists.

but once i hit the ‘apply adj’ button under the texture tab…i can now use projection master and i get the no seam popping in when i pick it up.

woOo!

i just wish things go as smoothly as they are written in the book i’m using.

they mention nothing of this stuff…and they seem to have no trouble with things working as they should.

sorry was a bit ticked…because i got up this morning ready to do some texturing…but it took 5 hours just to figure out what the heck was going on with the seams.

i do still wonder why cant i poly paint once i have applied a texture

You can still polypaint, but you’re not seeing the results as the texture is now sitting “on top” of the polygons, so to speak. So you are still painting the polygons, you just can’t see them. Turn the texture off and it’ll be back again.

Did that help or did I misread the problem? :frowning:

that is a great idea, and thank you for your reply. i did a quick test and it didnt exactly work. if i have a blank texture applied and i try to poly paint nothing happens…even when i turn the texture off, nothing has happend.

however…if i have already polypainted on my model…and i turn a texture on…it covers up my polypaint (to be expected) …then i try to polypaint with the texture over.

what happens is …where ever i polypaint…when i turn the texture off i see that it seems to erase parts of the underlying polypaint.

wow i know that sounds confusing.

Check you have RGB selected, check it’s above 0 also.

Have you switched Colorize on before painting the polygons?

When you have a texture on the model, and try to paint the polygons, it paints with that texture (but not so well). So if your texture is the same color as the polygons, when you do that, you’re not going to see anything after removing the texture. But if you already had some colors on the polygons, it’ll appear to be removing their color (if the texture was blank).

great reply! thank you.

i have found that for how i’m approaching it, bounceing between making my poly paint a texture and my texter poly paint…i have found a good workflow.

thanks again for helping me understand
