Multiple Passes.. and lighting etc...

Ive been wondering for a long while now… as I model and do not have to render anything very often…

I see renders composed of multiple passes… some for specific lighting etc…

Does anyone know of a book or dvd training video that goes over all the different types of passes and render effects used to get the class-A work output that I see here on the forums so often?

I’m a Zbrush and 3dsmax user.

Id love some input on how this all works.

I don’t know of any books or DVD’s that cover this topic. But check out the Making of articles from the Action Hero contest. You’ll easily spot them in the rescent thumbnails here: http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/featured2col.php A couple of the articles do talk about this subject.

Scott Spencer’s ZBrush Character Creation book from Sybex, Chapter 8 is on Photoshop composites starting on pg. 227. Great info and great book. Might be outdated upon ZB4, but still worth reading. It also comes with a DVD. Shout out to Scott, good work on that.

For a general book take a look at Digital Lighting & Rendering by Jeremy Birn.

thanks for the replies
I will be looking into those books/references right now.

I appreciate the help
