Multi subtools export for animation

Hi there, I have been practicing some of Ben Douglas Hard Surface modeling tutorials. I now have about 20 subtools for the project, each with a base subdivision and levels up to 7.

How can I export all of these subtools as one tool, while retaining the sub division levels so I can create the comparison maps
(eg Deformation).

I want to bring the low poly version into Maya to rig and animate. Is there a way to combine my subtools so I can create my maps, or do I need to do each of them individually?

There’s an Export All SubTools button at the bottom of the Zplugin>Decimation Master sub-palette which will export all your subtools to a single OBJ. It will use the subdivision level that is currently selected and won’t affect the model in ZBrush. So if you wanted both the lowest and the highest levels you’d need to export two OBJs. (ZBrush doesn’t export to any file formats that support subdivision levels but you can create your maps in ZBrush…)

If you create your maps in ZBrush then you can use Multi Map Exporter to combine the maps using the Merge Maps option. This will merge any maps that share the same UV space, so if you want a single map to cover all your subtools you’d need to make sure that the UVs for each subtool didn’t overlap.
