I’m trying to export a displacement map for use in Maya with Multi Displacement 3. However, when I load my tool and click “GetMeshInfo” it gives a value of 0 for both Tiles and Poly Count. When I click “Create All” and choose a path for the .tif it does nothing. I have followed all steps in the tutorials I found (including reducing down to division level 1), but nothing seems to do the trick. It even does this when I load the pre-made ZBrush tools (like the Rhino). Any ideas on why this is happening?
What do your UV’s look like? Are you at level 1 when you create the map(s)? What is the path that you’re saving to?
I have a four part mesh with offset UV’s for each part. Export from LW into ZBrush. The UV tool is used to separate the Mesh int0 the parts and then GrpSplit is used to to turn the parts into sub-tools. Exporting Sub tools from ZBrush back into LW exports as single objects. Appending the tools requires delition of the lower subDiv and Unifiying the high res Mesh. At that point the LW UV’s are useless. Does anyone have a work flow? Is the Solution not to Group Split UVed parts into SubTools.
Yes, I am at division level 1, and the UVs are very cleanly laid out, though not split into shells. I just modeled it in Maya and exported it as a OBJ without any UV prep. Is that the issue?
Renderman,
The displacement Maps show up as an alpha. I, personally, do not use the Multidispalcement for single UVed (0,1 space) meshes. I am still attempting to use the Multidisplacement 3 for mulit offset UVed meshes. Use the displacement under tools and then press the create displacement tab. The open the alpha and you should see the new displacement in the top of the alpha pane.
Thank you, I’ll give that a try and get back to you.
