Mudbox 2010 announced...

Hey all - the darkside has announced Mudbox 2010:

They are sooo far behind its not even funny. The clone brush does look kind of cool though.

In terms of an artistic sculpting app, I agree it’s not currently a match for ZBrush. However, where it blows ZB out of the water is the interface and navigation. Anyone who uses Maya can load MB and instantly use it. I’ve seen many people try ZB for a morning and give up with pure UI frustration. If anyone could create a Maya style UI for ZB, I guarantee Pix would get more sales.

Not the maya interface for god sake :o max would be a better idea if you ask me. But I don’t find Zbrush 3.1 interface that hard to use at all, it’s a bit tricky, but so are all programs on first use, pixologic doeas a great job of providing us with the scripts and tutorials, in combo with gnomonology and digital tutors.

I don’t see Mudbox as being behind ZBrush. It’s not trying to be a full featured sculpting tool. It’s a detailing tool that’s supposed to be used along side other tools (like Maya).

It’s not taking part in the race. it’s sat beside the track eating a sandwich and happily reading the paper.

3DCoat is the only tool that’s competing with ZBrush.

But if Autodesk were to add Mudbox to Maya…

This thread has been merged into the Commercial Apps Thread and is now closed. Thanks.
