moving vertices

Hi,

I am trying to make a tights for a woman leg with zsphere / rigging (mesh) / edit topology. When I tab with the pen, the vertices snap over the topology. There is not any problem with that but when I move the points and close look at the points they change their position. There are not moving over the base mesh ( model ). They are not as they should be. Generally with little changes of the xyz coordinates of these vertices ( points ) do not result in this situation but by moving these points a little more, they get in the mesh. Enter into the model. Not over the surface they are any more.

What am I doing wrong?

Please forgive me, IM not entirely sure Im understanding your problem, or what you want to do. If you are referring to the fact that in topology editing mode the “move” function does not snap to the existing surface, and you can deviate freely out into open space, yes that is correct. The move tool in this mode gives you the ability to freely reposition points in space. If there is a means to make the move tool constrain to that surface, I am ignorant of it. As usual, the move tool moves points along the viewing plane.

If you need to place a point so that it snaps to the old surface, it is better to simply redraw it there, in “draw” mode.
