moving pipes , ropes etc.

hi,

Does anyone have any advice on moving pipes, ropes or similar after the fact, so to speak.

Say I draw out a curve tube and dynamesh it into the rest of the mesh, but then later I want to move that tube into a more graceful arc or loop, with out distorting the inherent cylindrical form. Move, scale and rotate along with careful masking can give general changes, but there’s a danger of kinks and creases forming. The move brush has a tendency to flatten thinner forms if I’m not careful.

I’m after something similar to the control you have when the tube is first drawn out, when the curve is still controlling the mesh. I’ve been looking at the various curve, line, spline etc. modifiers but I’m still experiencing pinching and thinning.

Or is the answer to keep such forms as separate subtools with the curves attached?

If you need to be able to edit your meshes after the fact don’t add spline/curve meshes inside of Zbrush. It doesn’t use a stack that can be edited after the fact. You can use Zspheres and insert meshes and still maintain the ability to edit the zsphere chain (similar to a spline).
