Move tool not working correctly with larger scaled scene.

So I have to work with a character mesh as a certain scale, which happens to be maybe 3X larger than the usual character scale in ZBrush.

My move brush is almost inneffective. When you drag it, it moves the mesh slightly then ‘stops moving it’.

If you scale all the scene geometry down by 200% the move tool works correctly again.

I have to work in this scale to fit an already setup VRAY scene scale.

I tried using the ‘Brush Strength Multiplier’ and it does increase the move strength, but now the move acts very ‘elastic’ and is still too short a distance and awkward, as it moves like a strong Move Elastic effect.

I am forced to manually scale down the size of every single subtool by -100 twice, then work until complete, then scale all the items one at a time up again ?

Is there any way the move brush could just work regardless of the scale of the scene geometry? The move brush should just work the same regardless of scale. This is causing alot of workaround / size rescaling time to make the scene comfortable to work with.

(a side note, all of my dynamesh also has to be run at 16 resolution or it’s too high, and to force the dynamesh lower I have to scale my object down).

Is there a ZBrush overall scene scale option that would help this ? (but still retain my scale for later exports to Maya VRAY)?

Zbrush has a defined world space, which is one of the reasons it is able to do some of the things it can do. You can encounter strange behavior when objects are of extreme scale in that world space.

One thing you can do, is use the persistent scale slider in the subtool menu (Tool> Subtool > Size). Make a note of the exact value of the XYZ slider, then slide it down to a more manageable level to work on. When ready to export, restore it to that exact value.

Cool - thanks I’ll try that out !
