Is it possible do move the topology along the surface? For example, let’s imagine I have a sphere, with a regular topology, and I want this sphere to have a wavy topology but I want to keep the perfect spherical shape while I sculpt. I know I could duplicate the sphere, modify the topology and then reproject the sphere on the new topology, but on a complex model this process becomes too heavy and tedious. It would be great if I could just brush the topology and keeping the form as they are. I tried the Nudge brush, it almost does what I want but not exactly, it still changes the overall form a bit. Any idea?
I guess you’ve tried move topological and move elastic with less than the results you’re seeking. Are you using masks?
You can try Nudge Brush. according to the document,its exacly what ur want.but i think it not really 100% keep the shape without change…
I’m not using masks, basically I have a 3D scan of a person, and on top of that I have my retopo mesh. What I want is to adjust the topology (for animations purpose) with a brush, while maintaining the underneath shape and volume. The nudge brush doesn’t quite keep the shape, the more you use it, the more it moves the mesh…
It would be cool to have some sort of “snap to mesh” so the retopo model will snap over the 3D scan, but I don’t think that’s possible…

in fact you can use existing meshes to be your highres model’s topology,but idon’t know it very clearly that if the selected topology can snap to the surface just as creating new topology.

Maybe the MatchMaker brush would work for some of it.
I would look into using Blender for that type of work. Free download at www.blender.org
Might take a little bit of time and effort to learn but worth it imo.
Learning a completely different software just because zBrush lacks one small feature is a bit extreme of a solution.
It will be like turning gay just because you run out of condoms…
