Mortal Kombat - Scorpion

Hi!

It was a long time ago when I uploaded an image here but I have been working as a rigger for a while and you may know that there is noting much to show here as a rigger :slight_smile:

Although at work I’m rigging characters, in my spare time I like to occupy myself with modeling and sculpting in Zbrush. I have found the inspiration while I was playing with the new Mortal Kombat and saw those beautifully detailed characters. Because Scorpion is my favorite I started with him :slight_smile:

I’m intended to make textures and (as I’m a rigger artist at work) a rig as well.

I used v-ray although I have been a mental ray user for a while. The new version of V-ray brought a significant improvement in displacement rendering and I gave it a chance :slight_smile:

Okay I will switch to English, this is beautiful work. Really there is nothing left to say. By the way if you have some time can you comment on my WIP work here (it is called [WIP] Character: Scavanger, Sculpting phase). Would love to receive some critique from a skilled artist as yourself.

Unfortunately my reference images mostly from the game didn’t tell me any useful about hes materials but yesterday I was trying to figure out what would be the best solution. I chose leather because it looks good and allows any kind of movement around his neck.

i love the material so far, i think leather suit him pretty well, and i love the render also, do you use vray or mentalray? and in max or maya? is that decimated high poly from zbrush? or its uved with textures on??
anyways really good job so far, can’t wait to see more!!!

I used V-ray although I’ve been a mental ray user for a while. I like to learn new things during the process of making characters, so that’s why I chose v-ray this time.

Oh and almost forgot that I’m a maya user.

Looking good. Can’t wait to see the final result. Scorpion has to be one of my favorite characters in the series, especially MK9. They made him pretty badass this time around.

I’m here again with updated renders :slight_smile: Sorry for the delay but I had to finish two dinos and an astronaut to get some money before I could continue my work on this character. I wonder If I had enough money to live on… :smiley:
