Morph Tool Confusion

I am trying to utilise the morph tool as a way of ‘erasing’ deformation back to the base mesh.
Ive read some other posts that suggest that this brush can be the best way to get rid of any unwanted sculpting rather than using something like the smooth brush which doesnt get you back to a 100% clean mesh.

My workflow is to import my object and save a morph target to retain my base mesh. I then divide and add a layer and begin my work.

If I want to ‘erase’ some sculpting in certain places I try to use the morph brush to do this, but nothing happens.

Ive tried going back to division level one and switching back to my MT but using the Morph brush then, just adds deformation to the mesh.

As I understand it the morph tool should just take me back to that stored morph (in this case, my base mesh).

Any idea what Im doing wrong?

a mt only works for the subD it was created at. “just like layers”

So is it possible to create a second morph target at the level Im working at and still maintain the target created for the base mesh?

I have a feeling I can only create one target

You can only have one morph target.

What you could do is append an alternate version of the model as a SubTool, then use the ZProject brush to copy across where you want. This in effect would erase anything that has been sculpted since the copy was made.

Great I’ll give it a go
