Morph target problems.

I know similar questions have been asked before, I’ve read several and also the practical manual but I’m afraid I can’t work this out.

I’ve done some sculpting on an imported model with the intention of creating a displacement map. I did remember to save the morph target and I do have the original model. The problem is that the switch button is greyed out (yes I have set the model back to level 1) delete morph target is available so the morph target is stored but I may have screwed things up by doing some partial subdivides. I’ve tried loading my original model back into level 1 but it won’t let me because they have different number of points. Is there anything I can do to rescue it or do I have to start all over again? :frowning:

Hi there. Your suspicion is correct. Partially subdividing the mesh wrecked the morph target AND the ability to import your original mesh again.

At this point, your only option is to go to level 1 or 2 and turn on the Tool>Geometry>Cage switch. You can then create a displacement map, after which you will need to export both the map and the model (with Cage still turned on). This will give you a new cage mesh that you can use in your other app with the map you’ve just created.

OK thanks for your help Aurick!
