Morph Target Problem . .

Hi! From everything that I’ve seen, to create a morph target the mesh is selected and then clicking the StoreMT button should enable that feature. However, it seems that dividing the geometry enables the DelMT button and I cannot switch between my low and high poly models. The store button seems to work on only a single res mesh. If I store a mesh at two divisions I can switch the altered meshes. Dividing the mesh into three divisions enables the DelMT button and I can no longer switch to the lower counts. Any suggestions? Am I missing something? - paul

I think you are confused by the Morph Target>Switch button. This is for switching the morph target, not switching between subdivision levels. To switch between subdivision levels use the SDiv slider in the Tool>Geometry menu.

Morph targets work with a set number of points. They can only be worked with at the subdivision level they were created. But you can delete them at any level, hence the fact that the DelMT button is enabled after you have divided your mesh.

Hi marcus! Thanks for the clarification. I’ve been working on a detailing tutorial and it seems that the presenter just loaded the model, set the morph target and even after subdividing could switch back and for to work with normal mapping and the lower poly model. I’ll proceed with the tut and not worry about switching between high and low poly geometry. Have a good day! - paul

Hi again! After your reply I reviewed the tut more carefully and got the morph target working like the presenter demonstrated. . .

After importing the mesh, a morph target is set. When the mesh is subdivided several times the DelMT button is highlighted and the Switch selection is turned off. However, when the subdivisions number is lowered to one. . . the Switch button is once again turned on and I’m permitted to switch between the level one and initial geometry. Thanks again for your help! - paul
