Morph Target issue

Hello,

I am making a 3d human for a project and am having an issue when making morph targets for the face.

I duplicated the face mesh and then export to an obj, import into zbrush and use the move too to pose the face.

I reimport into 3ds max and add it as a morph target and when I cycle it into play the face mesh moves down and some of the verts move to the opposite side of the face (as if the vert numbers were messed up).

Anyone have an idea on how to fix this?

Thanks

What version of ZB are you using? ZB 3.5R3 should be handling this for you automatically . . .

sorry, yeah, 3.5r3 (and 3ds max 2010)

I think I figured out what caused it to go down to a different position, but I’m not sure about the dang vertecii moving to a different position.

For me, this has often been the result of unwelded points somewhere which the process of working with ZB get welded and then disturb the point order.

On import make sure Mrg is off and Weld is 0. Be careful of any ZB operation which can merge points (like “merge visble” with “Weld” on.)

If all else fails, you can save your sculpture by re-exporting your model from Max, doing a Project All onto this newly exported model in ZB from your sculpture, and saving this newly projected model as your morph target. The operation of Project All will as long as you don’t weld anything coming in or going out will preserve your point order. (When I get frustrated with a point order problem, I often use Project All just because I get bored with diagnosing what happened.)

HTH,
