What a treat all these postings are. Hats off to you all.
Havenāt had a chance to try the script yet, but those are great catfish Ron. Well done.
Thanks for sharing all that info and goodies re your excellent fish image, Mentat.
Can I please make a small request, though. For the sake of those like myself who comb through the list of new posts rather than rely on the thumbnails, could I ask that you make such info a separate post so it appears on the latest page please rather than amend an earlier one? I almost missed this as it was purely by mistake that I revisited page 1, and I really would have hated to miss these goodies.
Hi Ron
Beautiful fishes

I was working on this yesterday when my computer crashedā¦so I finished it today. A tribute to Pixolator. I used his 2Tails model in this. Now Iām gonna sneek it in before starting up the next challenge
The background was done completely on one layer ustilizing just color applied with alphas and then the bump brush. The coral flowers were created from the Gear tool and spray stroked on. Lighting was set and then the background was rendered and baked. Then I set new lighting and activated the other layers and rendered again. The bubbles were a whimsy that was added on top of the image after it was exported as a .psd file and re-imported and filled into a new layer.

Well it is a new week and we are on to the next sub challenge in this series. Have you been thinking about your overall concept for Mother Nature?
This weekās challenge is FURY BRETHEREN. Feel free to interpret the title as you wish keeping in mind the overall theme of the challengeā¦MOTHER NATURE.
[/i]
Have fun!

will you please put the dictionary meaning of fury bretheren⦠that might help me get started
No furry brethren have popped their heads out of their holes yet, so can I just post this one.
The latest range in kitchen/bathroom tiles.
I didnāt have time to finish the whole image (this is really just the background) so will post it as my overall āMother Natureā entry.
ummm⦠QUOTE

here are furios bros:

and an icebear - no! its no albino guinea-pig

both zsphere-pets, 4-legged, btw, and furred the fiber fun way. background for barney was inspired by both Scott Musgroveās Late Fauna of North America pics and boozy of ZBCfame and was done the alpha century way (this time filling layer and using simple brush with z-sub (or: default + alt-key) to create river bed).
same for the ice floes. the alpha was done by filling the double-sized canvas with white flat material, erasure set to zsub-off (simple brush + black 0,0,0, would work fine, too) and square alpha choosen. small draw size. takes some time. btw, i have tried it the other way round, too, but painting the cracks instead of the floes worked much better for me. mrgbz-grab with auto turned off, texture turned to alpha, applied on hi-res plane, negative z-offsetblahblahblah. gradient sky material⦠i love the S1 and changing settings there
in both cases the āwaterā was created as a plane on another layer using the foreground-terrain-marker and pulled in front, than edited a bit.
though these are no āfurry brosā tips i hope you can make use of them one time

:red_circle: edit as per next morning :) : as farther down Sarum is asking for "painterly effect" in the barney-pic, here are a few details from what i remember of its production (i hope that will answer your question, Sarum!):
5 layers. the first to create was the terrain one, applying a material with slight noise (noise curve tweaked) so some bright tiny points showed up throughout the green. on another layer barney (whose zspheres looked like some dinosaur, btw) was placed. below the fur there is a rotated and h+v-repeated texture31 in uvc-mode to get the stripes. the material had some brown for colour diffuse to overrule the textures greys. this two layers were best rendered to get some shadow, then baked. on both the fiberbrush was used. i didnt care for the shoreline at that time, its coloring was done with the simplebrush later on. a splashy alpha with drag-rectangle stroke was used to create āflowersā. on barneys layer i added eyes and brows and nose. third layer: a gelshader-plane with some ripples and noise for the water. different lighting, baked. fourth layer: flatcolourplane for faraway background. all behind the 7 sweep-profile trees (placed on terrain layer) was painted there with simple-brush and z-off. 5th: ball layer. except the last one all were created with a material with high transparency, after a best render of the whole pic, flatten layers was turned off and the last layer re-rendered to without fog to get the transparent effect. pic was exported and reimported as a texture to fill the canvas with it. contrast brush with reduced rgb-intensity was used on barneys fur, part. on outline (a first go with contrastbrush was done on barney before). shadow of ball, teeth, tongue and a few details were painted in. some color-adjustments done, blurbrush here and there, i found some butterflies in my toolbox, another best render - voila
edit as per 030703: as we are in the stone-age by now i thought i better sneak these dalmatian cows i just did for a friends wife in here

Saulo that is one fine wave-on a scale of one to ten I would have to say that is a twenty-absolute perfection!Hansl very cute very nice very furry -well done-M7,a beautiful work-I think that this challenge has produced the best batch of images of any
challenge yet.Excellent work everybody.
care to share how you did that painterly effect on the barney picture juandel ?
thats a very cool wave saulo
Hi Saulo,
Awesome tidal wave you got there - kind of looks like a tsunami is starting up with all those tiny dolphins.
Juandel: That dog first looked hilarious, but the whole scene is very quaint and has lots of character. It really brings out some warm and fuzzy feelings.
Mentat,
can someone please explain the meaning of FURY BRETHEREN ? i am not sure that i understand the dictionary right
also in the first post, mentat, there was FURRY - which i think means hair ? Fury means wild ? please, describe in simpler words what is the topic.
Just a hunch, but I think Mentatās image was for the water category. I think Juandelās first pic is exemplary of furry brethren. Our animal friends, with hair.
I hope Iām getting it correctly.
Frenchy: I didnāt see yours, some quality use of the snake hook brush and nice blending.
Gummie is rightā¦FURY BRETHEREN is intended to the fury little creatures that live in the woods, coinhabit with us in the cities, etc. HOWEVER, the title is open to interpretation so you can put a twist on it if you so choose!
Thank you for your comments about my work.
I am happy for take part and so happy for studying the excelente, fantastic⦠ZBrush.
Later I will make a new image with step by step.
God bless you.
