Monsters and Nightmares Portfolio WIP Thread (Nudity / Gore etc)

Hello all. I am currently building a portfolio of creature / monster designs to try and find work. I will post all my relevant wips in this thread. The first piece I am working on is purely going to be a bust, designed as a piece of concept art. However, later models will be retopologized for use in games / animations. Please provide any feedback you can, as I am working very hard to develop an employable portfolio quickly. Thanks in advance.

This character is intended to be a sadomasochistic enemy from a horror game. I hope you like it :D. And I will post a further update later on tonight.

Hello all, heres a quick texture test I made a few minutes ago. I was side tracked by playing with zsphere rigging, a cool feature which needs some work. Ill finish this model tomorrow, then its on to the next one.

I dont know if this has been posted by anyone else yet, but i think I might have worked out a fairly easy method of posing your subtools accurately with zsphere rigs. Ill be experimenting for about another hour, then I will post my results here. I hope this works…

Here is a render of my final Bondage Demon model, please let me know what you think. Im going to start another model the now. I tried to render off print resolution images of it, but my crappy pc died a death every single time :frowning:

the sculpt is cool and creepy but
the shader is too hard in my opinion, kinda harsh on the eyes, maybe try something more subtle?

Cheers for the input Logick, Ill have another look at the shader in a couple of hours and tone it down a little

Hey, just to let everyone know the concept behind the model Ive posted above. It is intended as an enemy character in a horror first person shooter. The overall theme of the game would be sadomasochistic perversion, and this character is intended to be a banshee like enemy. It would be unable to fight physically, but would channel its pain in a psychic blast to both damage the player and warp his/her perception. I will be posting an update with my next project soon.

Good evening every body! Here is a WIP of my next portfolio piece. I haven’t thought of a name for him yet, but this character is intended to be an ape-like humanoid player character in an action adventure game. The curent tri count is 5602. I am going to try and reduce this to 5500 tomorrow morning before I sculpt all its details etc. The model was made and retopologised in Z3, with a few topology touch ups in maya afterwards. Please let me know what you think.

I still haven’t thought up his weapons yet, and if I should give him any armour or not, so feel free to suggest anything if you want to. Cheers all

Hello there. Here is another update, doing some texture painting now that the majority of the sculpt is complete. I still have to add a lot of detail to areas like the palms of the hands and soles of the feet.

Evening all, Ive been really busy this past few days, so I haven’t had a lot of time to work. Here is an update showing how the main tattoo on the model is going to look. Obviously, there is a lot of work still to do on it, but I would like to see what you think of the design itself. Let me know
