Very interesting. But, why is he sitting like that? He looks like he is on the potty.

Awesome character…and from my perception point, it looks as if he’s crouching, not pottying. Great work. I’d add some more detail to the claws to make them more menacing.

Awesome! Looks great. I think I’m in love.

To make him really look like a boss, and not just a minion, I’d give him a nice tail and some menacing shoulder blade spikes or smt… or even better… bat wings

great ideas guys, thanks, the claws haven’t had any work on them yet but that’ll change, anyway did some more work and added chain restraints, sort of like he’d escaped from his captives… the tail or wings are nice ideas, i may encorporate those into some kind of armour

Cool, I really like the design and the pose. But I do gotta say, if your going for “boss monster” I think the pose hurts it and it needs something else that evokes some kind of gameplay mechanic. Such a s tail that can grab a player or wings that can be shot off, or whatever. [EDIT: Haha, I just now read the above suggestions for a tail or wings after posting this. Guess I’m not very original!] If I saw this guy in a game I would assume he’s more of a cannon fodder type. Anyway, fantastic sculpt!

thanks for the advice everyone, did some PS work and found a design for a set of wings that i think works, obviously he’ll have two i just really want to get into sculpting them instead of redrawing another in PS, tell me what you think, thanks

Great work, I really like the design of the head  :+1:

thanks, done some work on the wings, had the idea that his wings have been torn to keep him from escaping his prison, tell me what you think

i think if you want to stick with this pose… the wings would look best in a rest pose… I think you can keep a similar pose and keep the wings where they are if you make him look a bit more like hes about to pounce… the wings and the body seem to evoke slight differing emotion to me…

very cool character regardless

thanks for the reply, my idea is that hes being restrained by chains, and i thought that if your captive can fly it’d be sensible to chain it by its wings, i’ve added the chains but the lack detail so i won’t post an update of 'em, heres another update started polypainting today and at the moment it ain’t great but i’d love some tips on how to generate a decent skin type of texture, much like Ceco’sbat creature, thanks

Hey Mazz, your creature’s looking very cool in design… would wonder about the ‘prisoner in chains’ slant given his gently seated pose but maybe you can pull that out of the hat with the chained wings as you say.

I’m not great with skin shaders, but I am a fair texture artist; if anything catches your eye in my thread, let me know and I’ll share any tips I can
