Modifying the lowest subdivision

My fellow ZBrushians,

I encountered a problem and hope to find help towards the solution from you

I’ve been modeling a high poly head. I’m quite satisfied with it, but now I want to use it as a normal map for a low poly head. This was not initially intended…
So I reconstructed the subdivision level to something at about 900-1000 polygons. But: The shape of the lowest subdivision level really sucks. Now my question is: is there a way to put the polygons in the lowest subdivision level in the right shape (can be in Maya, too)?
Or can I model a new low poly head and somehow connect it to the high poly head (like making my new head the lowest subdivision level of the high detail head)?

Hope I could explain my intention clearly. Looking forward to your ideas.

Cheers,
Ephialtes

You can append a new version of the model to the detailed one. Subdivide it to have the polycount that the first one did, then use Tool>SubTool>Project All and the ZProject brush (from the Brush palette) to copy the details to the new model.

Alternatively, you can use retopology on the high res model to create a new topology and project the details to it at the same time.

Thanks, I’m trying to do the retopology tool, as it seems to be my perfect solution… but: could it be that it’s only available in the windows version or is it a plugin?

By the way, for anyone interested: here is a great tutorial for that.

Okay, sorry… I just figured out that the rigging and topology options are only available when a ZSphere has been added…

Thanks for the help. That’s exactly what I need!
