Modelling Demo Reel (character and environment)

hi people:

This is my first time posting in zbrushcentral. I am currently doing a modelling demo reel consisting of a character and an environment. Below is my first pass in z-brush. Critiques and comments welcome…

nice beginning.but one thing, to get the document antialliased, double the document size, put your model onto it and press aa-half button on the right of the document (where the buttons move, scale… are) looks much nicer with clean edges.don’t know if you knew this.if, i’m sorry… what will the story be about? what other environment have you planned to do?

haaaa… thanks dude… i didn’t know that, this is my first time using z-brush. I learn’t something new today…

Well, there is not much of a story I must say… I just put Jamie Foxx from The Kingdom into an old abandoned tunnel… I did some render tests of the scene but I can’t put them here yet(tons of things to change) or my mentor will spit blood…

hehe.nice that i could help you.i will watch out for more of your stuff… keep it up.

hi:

some preliminary rendered stuff from me… I’ve got feedback that the way he is holding the gun is weird looking, like forced. Are there any tips to make it look more natural? Any comments on the pose?

Hey Mate,
there are a couple of things that i can notice… in one of the earlier images, the left elbow looks like it has an un-natural bend in it, like “Banana Elbow” if u have ever herd that expression. It means that it almost bends in a flat crease… perhaps u could try puffing out that area a little…

In terms of your pose, Remember Shilouette counts for alot in a good pose. Also i think the gun is too small, thats why he kinda looks forced, perhaps increase the size of it a little, also gives him more to hold on to… ( but then again i know nothin about guns n their size ) lol

if he’s not looking down the “Sight” then maybe lower his arms alittle and make more of a relaxed pose, if not, then bring the arms up more horizontal.

lol i sound like an animator…
maybe cause thats the other half of my job lol… anyway nice first try mate… keep it up…

The above it jus my opinion.

thanks adam, i did try to put the arm down and further away from the body… now i have to define the elbows and the fingers…

I spent most of my time fixing rendering issues like flickering and nasty render times… finally able to churn up a rough video… i still have one month before my school ends so I’ll spend it fixing anatomy issues and polishing up…

here’s a preliminary comp…

I gotta bring back some of the contrast in again… let me know what you think…
