Modeling Question

Can you tell me what method you used to model your base meshes? (outside of ZBrush) Do you model Poly by Poly or Box model etc? I have just been trying the poly by poly method, (drawing out the points and then extruding etc.) I find this method to be good for getting the vertices right but then when you extrude it is very time consuming pushing and pulling the polys. So what method do you use to model the base meshes and what works fast for you?

Also does this mesh look about right for bringing into ZB for detailing or can I make my base meshes even more simplified? (less poly’s)

Thanks

I find this method much faster than poly. I don’t pay attention on topology and my bases are very primitive.
I need to learn ZSpheres. They seem even faster if you know how to manipulate them.

Can you post a wireframe of some of your models. You say you don’t worry about the topology so I am curious how they look. Maybe I don’t need all the detail in my base mesh.

Thanks

Two of my bases. I didn’t sculpt on them yet but they were fast and easy to model.
I don’t try to place loops and work on topology if I have sculpting in mind. There’s always retopo tool.

Meshes with loops where are needed (mouths, eyes, musles etc) are better to sculpt but takes more time to model. While I need to learn zbrush I don’t spend much time on bases.

Your base will work just fine imo. But avoid triangles (there’s one on the cheek area). They say Zbrush don’t like them

depends on what I’m modeling  - mostly poly by poly though
