Modeling for Animation

Hello, I am new to ZBrush, and also relatively new to 3d in general.

In school I will be making my own short film, and I have a few concerns that I’m hoping somebody can help me address. What do I have to keep in mind when modeling a character that will be used for animation? More specifically, what if I plan modeling, texturing, bumping, and drawing my mesh all in ZB? I just want to find out what I should be aware of before I go wild in ZB and do things that will cause a lot of problems later on when bringing files over to Maya.

I hope I was clear enough, thank you for any help, I appreciate it.

More things than anybody can answer in a single thread

Usually you should make two meshes, one for sculpting (even quads) and one for animation (more detail in the bending areas, facial loops)

Aye that is alot of areas to cover - try this site:

It might give you an idea how to create your characters topology for optimal animation/deformation and at the same time for optimal modeling.

Cheers!

Thank you ISK-86 and bokaja, that gives me a place to start.
