Modeling and painting in ZBrush, rendering in C4D.

First off, let me just say how wildly impressed I am with ZBrush. I’ve used Cinema 4D for a few years, and within days of trying ZBrush I went right out and bought a Wacom tablet, and ever since, I’ve just been sculpting and sketching in Photoshop as much as I can.

I have one very simple/quick question though. I’ve created a model in Zbrush that I’d like to paint, and then export to C4D to render with Vray or AR. I’ve already got it painted, but when I go to Texture > Export, the option isn’t highlighted. I just flat out cannot get the object to export with its painted texture intact. I’m sure there’s probably some rudamentary step I’m missing, but I cannot figure it out.

Might somebody here be willing to provide a simple walk through that would allow me to paint on my model, and export that texture into C4D? I’ve tried Riptide for C4D, but that doesn’t seem to work.

I’ve got the tool saved, so if somebody could provide detailed steps from the point the tool is first loaded into ZBrush, to the export, that would be greatly appreciated.

First off, are you using the PC or the Mac version?

Second, have you read the appropriate section of the Wiki: http://www.pixologic.com/docs/index.php/Texture_Painting

If you’re using the Mac version, you’ll also need to take into account the changes that have been made in how texture is handled. That’s covered in the 3.12 PDF, which is available in the Download Center. (See my signature.)

So sorry about the lack of vital information in my last post, haha. It was late, and I was just heading off to bed. Sincerest apologies.

I’m running Windows XP X64, Cinema 4D R11, and ZBrush 3.1. I’ll take a look over those links you posted now.
