model size info

hello folks
i could do with a little help, ive had some large objects scanned and the data sent to me in obj format,
i can open them up fine pull the mesh here n there but it seems the original size of the model is gone when i try to save as an stl,
is there a way i can get zbrush to recognise the size of the model on import and in mm and export it in its correct size
my models are around 600mm tall yet z brush wants to save them at 3.5 inch or there abouts.

Exporting as OBJ returns the model to its original scale (assuming you didn’t do anything in ZBrush to change the scale, such as using the Unify command). Exporting as STL goes through 3D Print Exporter and requires input of a real-world scale.

You can export as OBJ and then use another program to convert to STL.

Or you can determine the scale in real-world units before importing into ZBrush. Then when you export as STL you can input the same scale setting.

Hi,

since @chipster didn’t reply i’m assuming it worked for him

I have a similar problem though, whenever I import an STL usind 3DP-Exp. it’s in 1:10 scale…

My model is in mm-units, exported as such (tried various software to ensure a third party fault), which means it’s about 600 units tall.
Now upon importing in zbrush and upon updating size ratio, it’s onle 60 units tall
When i export using “original size”, the model is, in fact, only 60 units tall…again, checked using various software and imported as mm…

usually it wouldn’t be as much of a problem to scale it x10 afterwards but for this model it’s very critical to keep the initial position since it’s a 3D-scan which is precisely aligned to another model and it would be just too many variables with scaling in post etc…

i’d appreciate any help
thanx
