Model, Sculpting Mouth effectively

Hi, let say that I need to create a facial model that is needed to be animate.

What would be the effective way to model the mouth?

Make a hole between the edges of the lips?
Create a large space inside the mouth?

Or anything else that you would like to share.

THX,

  1. Make base mesh
  2. Sculpt it
  3. retopology
  4. rig/animate
  5. ???
  6. PROFIT ?!

THX Slocik, but doesn`t that apply to just about anything 3D?

but still tahts the best approach, unless your a master of box modeling and can make good model for animation from nothing;f

OK, let me re-ask the question again.

I need a head model optimized for facial animation,

1st option - gap in the mesh method

2nd option - make the lip connect all the way to the inner side of the mouth

What are the pro/con for each of them?

In either case,

should I model the mouth close, even when it`ll be hard to sculpt the inner side of the lips?

or

should I model the mouth open, make it easier to rig, but gotta go through the hassle to deform into closed mouth?
