Model resets when I change to ZSphere view

I’ve just started with with zbrush and have a view questions. I made a model out of zspheres and pressed “a” to make it into a mesh. Then I sculpted a bit and thought that I could move the arm a little up. So, I pressed “a”, moved the arm and pressed again “a” and all the sculpting work was gone(good I haven’t made that much^^)
How can I prevent such things? Don’t imagine you have made a lot of work and press the wrong key and everything is gone :open_mouth:

Secondly, is there something like a hierarchy view like in Cinema 4D or so? Something where I can select the models I want to edit.

Every time you activate the preview, ZBrush calculates an ideal mesh based upon the current ZSphere configuration. This will wipe out any sculpting or polypainting that you’ve done to the model.

To override this behavior, press Tool>Morph Target>StoreMT before you activate the preview. This tells ZBrush to calculate and store a mesh which it will then use every time you turn the preview on. You can then turn the preview on and start sculpting/painting to your heart’s content.

You can then even move ZSpheres around without losing your pre-calculated mesh. In this way you can sculpt and detail the model while it is previewed, then pose it with the ZSpheres. The caveat to all this is that you must not add or remove ZSpheres from the figure. Doing so automatically forces a new mesh calculation, deleting your stored mesh.

Thanks aurick, that helped me a lot
