mirroring imm brush

i rercently updated to 4r4 and played around with the new features when i came across following situation:
i modeled a non symmetrical head and added an ear using the imm brush.
but how to add the other one ?
can i flip the ear before drawing it or must i draw it and then somehow mirror it before attaching it to the head?

So far i tried mirror from the deformation palette and “mirror and weld” before attaching the ear. but it does’nt work like that.

try using x symetry by hitting x see if that helps

In subtool pallete duplicate the ear. In deformation panel with copied subtool selected hit mirror.

both is not doing the trick.
it possible to draw a mirrored imm brush via x symmetry and then ctrl+swipe them together, but hence the mesh i want to stitch the brush to is way too unsymmetrical, the second attachment point is not the one i desire.

in order to duplicate the brush i have to split them to parts first then duplicate and mirror the ear and reposition it.
but when this is done i see no way to attach the two ears two the base mesh. i merged them down to one subtool but i guess you can only attach the geo directly after drawing it.

maybe i was too unclear about what i want to achieve: i do not want to combine the tools via remesh or dynamesh. i’m trying to use the new feature where you first designate a stitching area by painting a mask and press ctrl+w then draw and ctrl+ swipe to stitch them together.

the only way around i see is to save a mirrored version of the desired part in the imm brush set.

I have the same problem. Are there any solutions other than creating a mirrored version of the imm brush?

Cut model in half, modify then use Mirror and weld in the Geometry pallette.

The point here is not how to mirror a symmetrical object but how to use the IMM brushes like e.g. body parts on non-symmetrical objects and merge those. Using this technique you define a polygroup and ZBrush merges the two polygroups by bridging polygons. The question is if there is a way to mirror the IMM brush. Like in the body parts IMM brushes you have a left ear but you need a right ear as well. Of course you can just mirror the object if it is symmetrical but how would you accomplish that technique if the object is not symmetrical and you don’t have IMM Brushes for both sides. I assume you would need to create your own IMM brush but maybe there is a way to somehow rotate the IMM brush before merging.
