Mirrored Face Selection ...

How do I avoid selecting faces (vertices) on the opposite side of my geometry when doing a “Shift+Command” +“Option” … yes, i’m on a Mac. In Maya this would be solved by doing a “Camera” based selection to avoid selecting geometry on the opposite side. I forgot to mention that i’m in a snapped orthographic view of the object (tool) when doing the selection. Moving just slightly off a straight orthographic view seems to get around this. Just wondering if i’ve missed a setting somewhere.

unfortunately there’s not a way to do this that I’m aware of. Which sucks, because it would be really useful to make masking/selection ignore backfaces. The only thing you can do is just paint your mask, it’s the only masking method that skips backfaces. If you’re trying to hide/select geometry like this, you can use visibility->hidept, which will hide anything that is not masked- allowing you to add it to a polygroup or whatever you want to do.
