mirror problem

hi i have made an object that is almost symmetric…
is there a way to change te mirror point manualy so the mirror works?

cuzzzz. i made a character with one big hand in maya.
thnx alot

hide everything but 2 polygons, they should be symetrical and on opposite sides of the sym line.

then go to
transform>Cpivot. or S pivot…i never remember which.

SPivit is Set pivit point (to center) Cpivit is clear the pivit.

another problem is… its not setting the pivit but translates te object to the center so it is symetric. But i have some more object in my scene. (subtools)
when i try to center them its just also placed on the center inside the body.
how do i fix that?

i need to know where i am sculpting next beside those objects.

anyone?

you’ll need to center the object in the tool>preview window…which is very difficult to do.
