Mirror an eye

Im running ZB V 3.1. I have a sculpt with one painted eye. How can I mirror the eye that is already painted to the other side of the head??

The following steps assume that your eye is a subtool of your head model, and that the eye is correctly positioned in the head. It also assumes that the head model is symmetrical across the X axis.

  1. Select the subtool with the eye, at the highest subdivision level.
  2. Delete its lower levels.
  3. Press Tool>Clone
  4. Select the new tool, which will just be the eye.
  5. Press Tool>Deformation>Mirror X
  6. Select your original model, and make sure that you have the eye subtool selected.
  7. Press Tool>Geometry>InsertMesh and select the eye that you just mirrored.
  8. Reconstruct subdivision levels.

What if the eye is not a seperate piece but part of your actual face model? Is there any way to select the alphas and copy them? -Kind of like using a selection tool in photoshop.

Mask off the eye area and use smart resym ?

The problem is that I can’t see what you’ve got. I have to make a lot of assumptions from your descriptions (such as my original assumption that your eyes were subtools).

You can split the eye’s polygons off from the rest of the face by hiding those polys and then cloning the model. You can then delete them from one copy of the model and invert visibility to delete the head from the other copy. From that point you can follow the steps to clone, mirror, and merge your eye to get a single model that is two eyes. Now you can append that model to your face as a new subtool.

But again, I’m assuming that your face only has one sculpted eye.

Another approach that you could take would be to mask the good side of the face and then use the Smart ReSym feature to copy the sculpting over to the other side. You could then copy color via the Zproject brush.

:+1: Aurick, Thanks on this.
