Mirror A Layer Or Morph Target...?

There might be another way to do this so any suggestions would be most welcome. I have a symmetrical figure that I am developing facial expressions for and I want to be able to isolate half of the expression. For instance: If I am creating a “brow down” movement with symmetry “On” how can I isolate half of the face and just have the left brow go down, or just the right brow go down? I would like to do this with layers.

Thanks for helping me.

The simplest way is probably to use a Morph Target:

  1. On a new 3D Layer create your expression with symmetry on.
  2. Duplicate the layer.
  3. Will the layers turned off, store a Morph Target.
  4. Turn on recording for one of the layers and use the Morph brush to paint out one side of the expression.

A very elegant solution Marcus, spot on! I’m really learning more about Layers than ever before. In what way is the Split Layer supposed to function?

If you have polypaint and sculpting in a single layer it will split them into separate layers.

Ahhh, thanks so much; you are always very helpful.
