Migrating ZBrush to another PC

I’ve just bought and installed ZBrush 1.23 using the temporary password onto my laptop. This is not my main graphics PC, which is in a slow boat in one of the seven seas at the moment as I am moving to the other side of the world.

I noticed in the serial_number.txt doc that it says that before registering the software we should:

“Be certain you’re going to continue running ZBrush from the hard disk on which it currently resides. You may move it to another location on the same disk, but ZBrush will not recognize your User License if copied to another disk.”

Does this mean that if I register it now, while it is on my laptop, that I won’t be able to transfer it to my main PC later on?

My apologies if this is a really stupid question, but I haven’t seen this with software before so I panicked - and better safe than sorry.

And the worst thing is, if I can’t register it now, I won’t be able to get stuck into 1.5 for a good month or more.

You can transfer ZBrush to another computer at any time, should you need to do so. You will simply need to send in for a new permanent serial number once ZBrush is installed in the new location. We will be happy to help you at that time.

Happy ZBrushing!

While you’re here, can I ask if we are allowed to have 2 copies still? After the upgrade and when the dust settles, I’d like to have one on my laptop… I may be spending awhle on bedrest soon. I don’t want to sit there and wonder what I could be doing with zbrush… LOL especially the new version!

Thanks for your time and the updated lessons!!

Many thanks for the replies.

Sure is a refreshingly friendly forum.
