You could try increasing the Tool>Import>Weld value before importing the OBJ. Push the slider all the way to the right.
Also when you create the extract make sure the Tool>SubTool>EXtract>S Smt slider is set to 0, otherwise the holes could get filled in.
I found out you don’t have to export or import. I just hit the weld button next to the micromesh… It seems all the old tutorials pixologic has up need to be updated. I was also told import, export to weld is no longer needed

That will work if the points to be welded overlap but it won’t work if there is too big a gap between points. As your mesh didn’t work the old way I think it unlikely it will work the new way. Or did it?
