Messed up mesh tips?

I’m new to zbrush and I’ve been having some trouble with my meshes getting tangled up for lack of a better word, for instance I’ll want to get rid of an area that is all deformed with flipped faces and all that, but neither smoothing nor clipping seem to be helping that much.

I’ve also tried masking it, and delhidden, but that creates some really square edges that I’m not sure how to deal with either.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello there. In a case such as this, pictures are worth a thousand. There’s a lot of tools in zbrush and I’d wager more than a few will be able to solve your problems, but a screenshot or two will help us hone in on the problem you’re facing.

Well mainly I wasn’t able to satisfactorily cut out the middle of this object with the clipping brush, whatever I did just made it look worse. so I tried masking it and deleting hidden. But that gives these hard flat edges, which don’t even meet on the other side. I’m confused about what to do in this scenario.

use dynamesh on the object with the manifold errors. Dynamesh requires a closed mesh so it will bridge the gap there.

What were you trying to achieve that a clipping brush wouldn’t allow?

Ok, I’ll try using dynamesh. It’s a little strange though how you can’t stitch up something like that, or maybe you can?

My other question is what do you do when you have a large clump of polygons in one area, and can’t really even it out? I tried using decimation master with a mask but the result wasn’t good. edit: this problem went away when I started using dynamesh

I was trying to just cut a hole through it, it’s like a jaw piece.

the clipping brushes will work fine for that…but you’ll want to make sure you have symmetry off and that you use a mirror and weld when you are done.
