Mesh twisting using ZSpheres?

Hi guys,

I have a model I started making with ZSpheres however the mesh is twisting and I cannot figure out why.

I already checked the orientation of the chain and all the spheres are facing the same way. My understanding is that with this twisting shouldn’t happen. I also tried to twist the spheres to correct the twisting, but this gives no result. Here is my mesh with my ZSpheres. Anyone have any idea how to correct this?*

*Although I can take this into Maya, delete half the geometry and fix it and move it back to ZBrush I’d rather learn to fix it in ZBrush.

Hi! i think you will try to change the orientation of the zsph. of the head to the red color. the others are in red color but the zsphere of the head are in black color.

Thanks for the response  Unfortunately thats just a fluke that the head sphere shows up black. All of the spheres are actually in the same orientation (all black on top) but it doesn’t show unless I click on the actual sphere (they all show a solid color until I click on them). I assumed maybe this was just because it was the root sphere that it still showed its colors. (I also tried rotating it and it makes a complete mess).

Has anyone offered a solution? I’m having the same issue. It’s extremely frustrating.

I ended up just recreating the model

One tip though, check your adaptive skin preview every time you add a new sphere, this way you can ensure the topology is correct.

It would be nice if whenever a new ZSphere is added, rotation or positioning on certain axises could be constrained to whatever axis the previous ZSphere was sitting at. That would keep everything symmetrical and inline. There are times when a ZSphere rotates freely without constraining to any axis, even with a key held down. That’s where the problems begin.

Also hoping for a way to avoid the  twisting, ARGH. My character was looking so nice until I made the adaptive skin. Then twisting between torso and head happens, resym won’t fix it; Smart resym makes it horribly worse…Please help.
