I have had a problem with ZBrush 4 and Maya, transferring obj´s, and want to share the solution with you:
Sometimes when I exported geometry as obj from zbrush to maya, edited the shape (but not the topology, vertex order) in maya, imported to zbrush again, I got the message “mesh topology has changed …” even if it hadn´t.
(I used the correct importing and exporting settings, correct subd level etc.)
Now I found out, what the problem was: I drag-dropped the objs to maya instead of properly importing them using the “import” command. It seems that maya changes the vertex oder or “creates multiple groups” when drag-dropping objs into maya.
When I repeated the same procedure without drag-dropping but “importing” instead, everything worked out fine, mesh topology stayed the same.
