Mesh/Tools Disappeared - Help!

Hi Everyone,

I was sculpting away when my entire mesh/tool disappeared. My cursor changes shape as if the tool is still there, but I can’t see anything. All of the subtools are properly showing in the Tools–>Subtools list.

I have tried Frame (F), and CTRL-SHIFT-LMB click, but nothing reappears. I also tried closing Z-Brush, and reloading the file.

If I File–> New Document --> Select the Tool and LMB-Drag it out, I can’t see anything actually being drawn. I can draw and see the default Polyshere from the LightBox --> Tools menu, but when I go into Edit Mode it disappears. Here again, the cursor reacts as if the polyshere is still there and sculptable, but I can’t see it.

I would be so grateful if someone could help. My ZProject is shared on my Dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/s/xkdmhlc4pfy25af/Dragon%202015-10-01-3.ZPR?dl=0

Thanks!
~Nick.

Downloading now Nick.

It’s taking ages to open. I think you have too much undo history, the progress bar says “loading 10,000 undo steps for subtol 2.”

Thanks Dillster. I wanted to reply to this thread sooner, but I didn’t know when it would post because I am a new user, and my posts are delayed.

Anyways, it turns out that the solution was Color -> Clear. I don’t have a complete understanding of the Document aspect of ZBrush, but it appears that the Document was completely overlaid/painted over by a grey color. I’m not sure how this happened (a shortcut key?). Also, this overlay/paint does not seem to clear automatically by Document -> New, and hides the mesh/tool behind it from view. The cursor continues to react and respond to the hidden model.

Cheers,
~Nick.

Well it eventually opened. Like you, I’m not able to see the subtools. They are apparently in the scene as I can see the Symmetry cursor marks.

I tried rendering and the subtool rendered black.

Aw come on Doug. No need to keep the cure secret.

Determination and stubbornness
Loaded without history; Changed document size, Got rid of some excess tools. Performed Unify on the dragon and all the other subtools with it. Filled with white(used a plugin for that bit) as well as the unhide all option.

Well done Doug.

Shift+S will snapshot the model to the canvas. Ctrl+N to clear(or Color Clear with edit off)

Thanks Dillister and Doug for your help! I really appreciate it. You can see my (delayed) reply up above for the solution I ended up finding.

Cheers!
