Mesh insert orientation

My new creature should have some spikes. I used mesh insert with some cones from ZBrush and I made my own in 3ds Max. Always when I put them on to my mesh,they lie on the mesh.

But thes should stand! I tried to roted the pivot point in 3ds Max, it did’t work. As you can see on the image…

Please help me!!:confused:
