Mesh extrude problems

Hi,

I have only been using ZBRush for the past 3 months so I’m still learning the basics. The online tutorials are amazing and very helpful.

tho, for the past few days I have been unable to work out how to extrude mesh from a certain part I have designed.
I can extrude the shape I want from the default 3D sphere (once it is a polymesh) but not from my ‘face mask’.

The face mask is the piece I have designed. I have tried extruding when it is dynamesh or polymesh.

Can you advise if what the parameters are for making sure the mesh will extrude?

What are the steps you’re following? What are the results you’re getting when you try? That will help a lot when it comes to figuring out where the problem lies for you.

I follow the steps exactly as shown in the online video tutorial named duplicate and extrude.
This usually works for me but now the ‘copied’ negative mesh (in white), when I redynamesh, disspears completely but does not leave a hole.

so it shows as a negative mesh and works on a regular sphere, just not on the subtool that I want it to work on?
