Hi - I’m not very comfortable (ye)t with Zbrush so I make the approximate shape I want to in Rhino and import into Zbrush, and attempt to draw the details.
The issue is - unless the imported 3D obj is made out of 1 single solid, the edges will break in Zbrush. It doesn’t matter if the edges are properly closed in Rhino - if I boolean the solids and even if it successuflly creates a fully closed polygon without manifolds or any other issues, when I edit in Zbrush, it will break up the meshes at the edges and causes issues.
I don’t know what to do - some solutions seem to point out I should turn off the “SMT” option in geometry, but this didn’t make any changes. Some other mention “weld” the edges, but I don’t know what that means - it’s “welded” if it’s a closed polygon/solid, no? What more do I need to do to the edges?
What can I do in Rhino or Zbrush to avoid this?
I can’t create my desired object purely from one solid alone in Rhino, I will need to combine solids via boolean union and create meshes via capping objects and so on.
*See image for the sort of “breaks” in the mesh I mean - it’s the dark/black cracks in the mesh
