Mermaid WIP

Here’s a sculpt based on a Loish rendition. Ariel is copyright of Disney.

Please critique my sculpt harshly, thanks! My goal is a stylized, pseudo-realistic render (such as works by Pointpusher or Alessandro Baldasseroni.)

I’d like to clean, simplify and tighten the forms more, especially in the hair and tail. The back, shoulders and neck are sporting some very ambiguous anatomy too… Please let me know what observations you have.

You can check out Loish’s rendition here: http://loish.deviantart.com/art/happy-bday-dee-ayyyyyy-15833275

Looking good so far!!

coming along nicely, just got to get the hand through the hair fixed…:+1:

what would you suggest? I’m not sure if I want to part the hair completely, or simply carve in to give indication of the hair flowing around the arm. Maybe there’s an even better way?

Wow, awsome. I love it when folks use ZBrush to create simple cartoon characters. Great work Talster. Keep up this fantastic work-:+1:

Thumbs up for mermaids!

Looking great. About crit you desire, you probably subdivided too fast so it looks bit not too clean. I guess you could go down 2 levels in subd, delete higher and then subdivide and remake some details. But volumes and flow are great.

It’s looking good talster! I really like how you did her face. The arms kind of look awkward at the moment, but I’m sure with a little more work you can define them properly so that they look more natural.

I want to do Ariel now, hahaha.

Keep up the good work!

Pretty Ariel
Well done, hair inflated under water !
