Merging subtools with multiple Subdivisions?

Hi, I’m working on an alien and I’m trying to make its armor. I’ve got the pieces of armor made mostly, and I want to make symmetrical copies and merge them, while maintaining my lower levels of geometry (this is a game model, so I kinda need them). I know of the methods using meshinsert and the Subtool Master, but that won’t do because I need my subdivisions. Any ideas???

you should be able to merge at the highest level then do a Reconstruct Subdivision.

If both models have the same number of subdivision levels, Tool>Geometry>InsertMesh will combine the models without changing the number of subdivision levels.

One more question, is is possible to mirror things with multiple subdivisions?

when i done InsertMesh to merge multiple subtool。the data is large。。system become too slowly。。how to delete the intersection face?

umm…I don’t get your lingo

ZBrush doesn’t have boolean operations.

What you should do is merge a lower subdivision level version of the model, then use retopology to construct a new mesh. After that, append the new mesh to the original, non-merged model and use Tool>SubTool>ProjectAll to transfer details.

No, this isn’t possible. The best that you can do is clone the highest subdivision level, mirror the clone, then try reconstructing subdivisions to get back to the original number of levels. If that works, you can then merge the mirrored and reconstructed clone with the original model.

I figured it out anyway, so it doesn’t really matter, now if anyone wants to tell me how to retopo while preserving details, please do so in my thread ‘How to Un-divide?’

oh! my God!when i merged all subtool .ZB system become Crazy! is out side the law!look at this! in edit status!i can not connect topology line as usual,it can not appear out!~~
i guess it because …merged model is too large faces!!it is 8 billion ! by insert mesh command. if ZB can auto delete the intersection face,the faces can be
reduced so large number.

oh!~~~hurt my heart! I … after i save my doc. then i open ZB. the orginal toplogy line is not moved.the error appear. i have restalled ZB. using a sample low-Res model to test. :rolleyes:

Try clicking in the middle of the line you want to remove. An indicator will appear to help you click on the right spot. This adds a new ZSphere at the point where you clicked. Then Alt+click on the ZSphere that you just added. That will remove not only the ZSphere, but also the entire line.

ZB software is only a toolbox, the toolbox can not become burden ~~~,if it is.we must throw away :smiley:
