Merging separate areas of one tool?

Hi, sorry if this has been covered, I searched google but could only find instructions on merging different sub tools.

I’m working on a sculpture that I want to look like a relief carving of a character made from one single block of stone.

I started the figure with a zpshere skeleton to get the pose right, then made an adaptive skin and started sculpting on top.

My issue is, I’ve progressed to the point where I want to kind of merge the different areas together. He’s a sitting figure with his arms sitting on top of his legs with his hands going over his knees. I tried to move the hands as close as possible to the knees and built up the area with clay build up, but there’s still a definite seam and if I try to smooth it the gaps just become more apparent.

I tried z-remesher, also tried exporting an obj and reloading it as someone suggested to me but neither work. Is there anything I can do to achieve this?

Thank you very much for your time,

Dynamesh first, at high enough resolution to capture all the detail you want. Dynamesh will close or fill in minor gaps and holes, and fuse objects together. ZRemesher does not close holes or merge geometry.

You may then want to ZRemsh after you get satisfactory results, to create cleaner lower poly geometry. However, ZRemesher is generally used to create low poly geometry, so you will lose some high poly detail. To recapture that detail you will have to project it from the original high poly mesh onto a subdivided version of the resulting low poly mesh, to end up with a new model with multiple subdivision levels, and cleaner, more manageable topology at the base.

Please read the following article on transferring detail in Zbrush:

Thank you very much for the advice! Luckily I hadn’t gone as far as detail, the dynamesh and remesh worked perfectly.
