Merging meshes and sculpting looks like badly welded iron, why?

I create several meshes from primaries and merge them together with subtool master (because I want them to be one), and then I try and sculpt this model but all I get is extremely ugly welding marks like this (even when I ctrl+shift click to get the smoothing effect):

How can I make the transition smooth? I wanna get started with “real” modelling right away but am having a very hard time to actually find tutorials that deals with basics like this. It’s frustrating to be held back like this, seeing how awesome this software is if you can use it properly. :frowning:

And can someone tell me why every single post has to be reviewed before it’s posted? I can’t edit anything that I post because of this (and Im one of those who often forget something in the initial post and wanna go back and provide additional details to the thread in order to be more clear). And on top of that it’s extremely annoying to have to wait 6 hours or more before my thread even appears.

You are getting those seams because ZBrush isn’t welding anything. It’s just combining the meshes into a single mesh with polygons that go inside and through each other. ZBrush doesn’t have boolean operations.

To get a perfectly welded mesh you would need to use retopology over top of the combined mesh. You can then use the projection features to shrink wrap the new mesh to fit the original.

Regarding the other matter, all new members go through a moderated period. This is the biggest reason why ZBC gets so little spam; we’re able to catch most of it before it appears on the forums. (And believe me, a lot of spammers try to get through.) After you’ve participated for a short time, you automatically switch to non-moderated status and your posts start appearing immediately.

I looked in the practical PDF and retopology seems extremely advanced, thats way ahead of where I am. Is there no easier way?

Ok makes sense. So how many posts do I need/how long do I have to be a member for this to turn off?
