merging and connecting two pieces of geometry

so last week i posted how to add a body to a head that i had already modeled and followed what was told to do. which was to append a zphere and model the body from it.

so now I basically i have a head and a body as two different subtools.

but now how do i actually connect these two pieces of geometry so they are the same piece ?

thx!

Hi nico4d, I think there are different ways to do this.
The easiest is: SubTool Master.
It´s a Zbrush plugin and you can merge SubTools together.
It´s also useful for many other things.

heey thanks a lot again Moni poroni. You were the one who helped me initially when I first asked and i did as you told me. Now i’ll do the same ! Vielen Danke!

What a coincidence! Lol…but now I think I told you that before??
I hope it´s what you´re looking for.

While SubTool Master can merge the two SubTools into one, it won’t actually weld the geometry. The exact way to go about doing that depends upon how well your head and body topology match up.

If they’re a perfect match you can simply export the combined SubTool and then import it again with Tool>Import>Weld at the max setting.

If they’re a close match and low polygon counts, you can use the retopology feature to bridge the gap between them via the techniques shown here: http://www.pixologic.com/docs/index.php/Topology:_Mesh_Editing

If they’re high resolution or the topology just doesn’t match up then you’d have to retopologize the figure. That’s explained here: http://www.pixologic.com/docs/index.php/Topology

wow thanks a lot Aurick…that is so good to know!
Because I have nooo idea about whether they match or not, or even if they are close.

The story is, on day i started to model a head but i liked it so much that i wanted to add the body so I started the body as described above.

Now i need to figure if it’s worth it to continue this way or remodel the whole thing from scratch…which i m not very keen to…

 Yes, good to know.
