Merge Visible not keeping subdivisions

I’m trying to merge a number of subtools in ZBrush 3.2 but it doesn’t keep the subdivisions. All the subtools have the same number of divisions. I’ve tried merging at the highest and lowest divisions and neither work. When I merge at the highest and try to reconstruct subdiv it says it is unable to reconstruct lower subdiv level.

Can anyone let me know how I can merge the subtools but maintain the subdivs

Thanks,

Richard

Is there anyway to keep the subdivisions when you merge subtools ?

Thanks,

Richard

SubTool Master. It’s in the Download Center. See my signature.

I’ve got Subtool Master but I’m using ZBrush 3.2 on a mac so the merge subtool is not there, the only option is the merge subtools in the tools palette.

Richard

The SubTools to be merged must have the same number of subdivision levels. So divide to add levels or delete to remove levels until all have the same. Then when you merge you will still have all levels after.

All the subtools have 7 subdivisions but I still lose all the subdivisions in the merged subtool. I tried with 2 simple polycubes divided to 4 divisions and they merge ok and keep all the subdivs.

Are there specific situations I need to avoid when I merge my subtools to ensure I keep their subdivs?

Thanks,

Richard

It’s possible that the resulting mesh is too memory intensive for your system after the merge, so the levels are being discarded in order to conserve memory.

Hi everyone

I am trying to do the same thing with zbrush 4 and this function it seems like it doesn’t work. All my subtools have 6 levels , but when I start merging down I lose the subdivision levels, and zbrush is unable to rebuild them. I have tried with just two sample spheres with 3 subdivision levels and it steel doesn’t work. I have tried subtool master as well …same thing the subdivision levels disapier.

Please someone help ,because I am already pooling my hair…My model has 314 subtools, and I really need to merge some of them.

The subtools are not huge …even at level 6 they barely go over 200.000 polygons.

Please HELP
