Mental Ray memory issues

Yep, another question. I am using mental ray for maya to render out a displacment map. I have displacment and subdivision aproximations set up. With the numbers tuned down everything renders, but is not subdivided enough. However, as I begin to crank things up to get more detail, my render stops almost from the get go. It tells me that there is not enough memory. My question is, is there a way to get the high level detail from Zbrush into maya. If so could some one fill me in :slight_smile:

make sure feature displacement is turned off this can really affect your render times, you should be able to compramise fairly high polycount (1 million) with fairly quick render times.

Yeh I have feature displacemnt turned off already. I have also turned up the amount of memory that mental ray can use up also. Do you know if there is a way to see what the poly count of your object is with the displacement at render time?

under the translation tab under the mental ray renderer change the export verbosity to show progress messages at the end of the render it should show the poly count.
