Thought I would start a sketchbook and WIP thread for the new year.

Here is my first one.

Lolth reinterpreted, one of my favorite D&D characters: the Demon Queen of Spiders, and chief Drow Goddess. She is as in all primal religions a fertitlity goddess, a symbol of fecundity. I wanted a bit of the Venus of Willendorf in her hips. And of course she is a Black widow, mating with her sacrifices before eating them.

Modeled in Zbrush, and lit in Maya

Very nice textures. Was it Decimated or is this render using displacement or normals? Great work.

Thanks Aberrant. It was a low resolution mesh with normals and displacements.

Thanks for the info. I am about to start a new project and try to bring it into maya and render it. I may have some questions for you when I get to that point if you wouldn’t mind. From what I understand GoZ is currently working with Maya only in 3.5? Ill have to do some reading but I would love to give it a try and see how it works.

Sure thing. I’ll help with what info I can provide. The displacements and normals were done in 3.1. GoZ should make things cake.

Here are three shots from zbrush. Sorry for how dark they are, texture came out very dark here. I am using Sebcesoir’s excellent skinwax shader and red chavant, both of which I pretty much use as my defaults.
