Memory

Hey guys

Im working on my character and I need to SubD one more time from 6Mil to 21Mil, which I can do to work on the skin pores. So I goto to hide the body of the character from the neck down and I get all these memory errors then ZB closes. Even if I use my SubD slider to lower the resolution I get the same problems. I’ve tried tweaking the Mem sliders in the Prefs and it still crashes! Im using the Alienware Aurora Win7 64X service pack 1 with 9GB of DDR3 Ram, 6 of which I bought at Frys a few months back . (But yet System Info says only 6GB, System Mechanic says 6134 MB and PC Wizard says 9216 MB, as you can see in the image, I have no Idea whats up with that.)

Any ideas?

Thx,
-Dave

You can perform a local subD (creates tris, but doesn’t really matter at very high subD levels of a sculpt).
You can break the head into its own subtool.
You can apply the pores as a painted bump map (bump map viewer material)
You can use HD geo levels

I would check how your ram is sitting in your board as well as how the maker of the board says you should seat your RAM. Windows isn’t reading your RAM from the looks of it.

The RAM is a moot point though, Zbrush can only access 4GB of RAM at maximum as it is only a 32bit application.

Thx Beta, I’ll look into those options. Something strange is going on I’ll look into those issues too.

Thx again, Beta
