Maybe I missed it, but how many pages is it?
140 pages with nearly 3 hours of narrated video
Awesome. I’ll be picking up a copy.
Just to inform you, I have just received the book. It excels on many different topics and solves many problems of hard surface sculpting. Video tutorials are pure joy to watch and they are making amazingly good counterpart to the book. in fact they are so good that I can see them as standalone product as well. Techniques shown seem really advanced and well executed. As you can see it in every brush stroke, Mike Jensen knows for sure what he is doing.
As his fan on face-book I recently found out that there is a digital download as well. Anyway, to the ones who think that’s part of false marketing, I say that I am just one really satisfied customer who likes to share his experience with community when it finds something really worth to enjoy.

You have a link to those video tutorials, and that facebook page perhaps?

Worth it in my opinion
The Videos come with the book whether it is Print or Digital Download - so the only way to get the link would be to buy it.

Really great book, but I have a question regarding the videos. They have a strange naming convention and I can’t seem to figure out the order that they’re in. Could you maybe give a list or something?

I bought your DVD & Book ! Painfull to download from DAZ but whatever. You made a beautiful work. I enjoy watching it.
What would interest me is the way and how you textured it Page 11. “Weathered” and scratched; did you paint it or apply some pictures and did you uv it ?
i’d appreciate some clues and a small tuto to help me making it myself
Hello there.
Is this
http://www.daz3d.com/i/shop/itemdetails/?item=11462
the bokk or is it just the downloadable option? I want to order the book.
But checkout says “electronic download only - no charge”
The digital download includes:
- PDF Digital Book
- DVD.ISO - Contains nearly 3 hours of narrated video tutorials
- The Mech Alpha Stamps - used to create the detail seen on the model
Oh, I totally missed that “What’s Included & Features”.
Thanks.
But…where can I get the real Book (or isn´t there a real book?).
I need it shipped to Germany.
That’s what I have ordered.
Also believe that’s fixed price with a shipping included.
Hey guys =)
Thanks for all the kind words I’m glad some of you find the book useful =D.
I’ll try go go back and answer stuff and questions directed at me recently.
@Christian86: moth3r has the correct link =)
@Michel: Thanks I’m glad you like it. I agree DAZ is rather frustrating, but not my choice XD. The weathered and scratched render was done using Mental Ray for 3ds max.
What I did was render 2 different passes: A matte pass (for the matte paint) and a purely reflective pass (for the scratches). Then I took these passes into photoshop and hand painted all of the scratches and details (like the eye glow).
The scratches were made using some custom brushes I made in photoshop. Also to add some color variation all over I added some overlayed texture images with very low opacity.
Then just some overall tonal changes and what you get is below =) I hope that helps =) But basically the process is the same one that is used for painting hard surface textures for games. You start basic and add the wear down piece by piece.
@Digitalmind: thanks =)
@killahPriest: hey killah priest what are the names of the files? When I passed them off they were named like this:
Video 1 - Creating Zspheres
Video 2 - ZSketching
Video 3 - Concept Sculpting
Video 4 - Retopology and Smoothing the Character
Video 5 - Creating Stamps
Video 6 - Detailing the Character
I’ll try to figure that out for me just let me know =)
@Moth3r: Thanks for the nice words! I’m glad you got a lot out of the book =). It means a lot! If you have any questions let me know.
Thanks Mike
Now I know where and how to go with it
It would be easier to follow if they were that way. I tried renaming them myself, but when I DL’ed them the files were all labeled something like. “VTS_05_02”
You’re welcome Mike! I just wanted to give a proper feedback, considering that’s currently the most advanced tutorial on the subject of hard-poly sculpting taking in account at the same time philosophy of industrial design. There are not many who can properly balance out all it’s aspects so that makes me eagerly waiting for your next release as well. I hope it would be something in similar fashion, improving the successful formula beyond great
Best regards,
Ivan
doesn’t seem to work. I tried to order the book but it doesn’t take me to a checkout or anything- I also can’t register or log in, it says that there’s an error.
Works for me under Firefox …
